Composite of 7 images of the sun in various stages of a total eclipse, arranged from left to right. The first image shows the uneclipsed sun. The next four show the sun’s face being increasingly blocked by the moon, until there is only a barest sliver left. The sixth image shows the sun totally eclipsed, allowing the corona to be visible. Two solar prominences are also visible as small red protrusions from the sun’s surface. The final image is of the “diamond ring” at the end of totality.
